This invited talk was delivered as part of Dr. Georges Benjamin’s visit to Arizona State University, bringing together the ASU Health community for discussions on public health, health equity, and innovation. I presented research from the Embedded Machine Intelligence Lab (EMIL) on wearable AI systems for health promotion and disease management. The talk highlighted a self-supervised learning approach for detecting Freezing of Gait (FoG) in Parkinson’s disease using wearable sensor data, as well as ongoing work in metabolic health, including AI-driven analysis of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data and clinical decision support systems such as GlucoGuide. Additionally, I introduced research on heat-related health monitoring (HeatMind) and wearable sensing for hydration assessment. I also shared insights from our Biomedical Informatics & Data Science (BIDS) program and research training at ASU.
